Whitney Romine uses the knowledge and skills she gained in the Animals and Human Health [link to 1.2] (AHH) certificate as the volunteer office coordinator and Doggie Brigade advisor at Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio. In this role, she advocates for broader application of the hospital's therapy dog program, conducts human-animal interaction safety education, and supports her organization’s first animal-assisted intervention pilot study.

Romine chose the AHH program because she wanted to develop her animal-assisted interventions knowledge and skills and because the program fit her current role and schedule. "I loved every class, the discussions and the application of course concepts to local organizations," Romine says. "The capstone was the icing on the cake, finally meeting all the people I’d been working with for months. I really enjoyed networking and sharing ideas with a diverse range of professionals.”
