Distinguished Alumni Award Nominations
The Distinguished Alumni Awards are DU’s highest alumni honor, bestowed upon alumni whose transformative leadership and impact on society represent the best of DU and its worldwide community of alumni.
Each year a class of up to four alumni are recognized as individuals whose accomplishments typify the University of Denver’s tradition of excellence and have brought credit to DU by their professional achievement and/or community impact. Also included are special awards for alumni with notable achievements in the years immediately post-graduation, as well as alumni whose service to our University sets the standard for dedication and impact.
DU alumni may be nominated for four specific Distinguished Alumni Award categories:
- Professional Achievement Award: Recipients must have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement in his or her field and be considered unusually successful or innovative by colleagues in the field.
- Community Impact Award: Recipients must have been heavily and continuously involved in major community activities and charitable causes either as a professional or volunteer. Contributions of time and/or money must have earned a considerable level of recognition.
- Recent Graduate Achievement Award: Recipients of this award must have graduated from the University of Denver in the previous 10-year period with an undergraduate and/or graduate degree, and must have demonstrated achievement of notable measure in his or her field and/or the community.
- Award for Service to the University: Recipients should have a record of noteworthy and significant service to the university that has spanned a number of years. Recipients’ impact on DU over time should be multi-faceted in nature.
In nominating a DU alum (or yourself), please be sure to highlight the ways in which the nominee’s impact has gone above and beyond and is truly representative of the best of DU. The call for nominations will officially close on Friday, June 5, 2026.
Thank you for your nomination!
