Professional Biography

Tara C. Raines, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the School Psychology program within the Department of Educational Psychology and Higher Education. Dr. Raines received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Special Education from Florida State University. She subsequently earned her M.A. and specialist degrees in School Psychology from Nova Southeastern University and ultimately her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Georgia State University. Dr. Raines a former bilingual school psychologist and completed her pre-doctoral internship in Child and Pediatric Psychology at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA), University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). Dr. Raines supervises students working the PRACTICE clinic on campus. She is also involved in local collaborations to encourage culturally responsive methods of identifying youth with behavioral and emotional risk. She is a member of the City of Las Vegas’ Innovations in Education board aiming to improve the educational outcomes for Las Vegas youth.
